Abby Hatfield, Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500), Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT)

A student of yoga for 20 years, Abby Hatfield brings expertise in yoga philosophy, anatomy, alignment, and breathing technique to all of her classes and sessions. Her yoga studies began in 1997 with Iyengar teachers Dean and Rebecca Lerner in Pennsylvania. When she moved to Oregon in 2000, she delved into the study of Anusara yoga, immersing herself in the Anusara method of studying and teaching alignment.

The depth and breadth of her understanding of yoga unfolded in 2008, after the loss of a child. Abby discovered the incredible healing effects of yoga and meditation while recovering from her grief. She was compelled to share the divine gifts of yoga, and chose to train as a teacher. She studied extensively with Sarahjoy Marsh in Portland, Oregon, receiving her 200-hour teacher training certificate in 2009, and her 500-hour certificate in 2014. She is now an IAYT-Certified Yoga Therapist, specializing in yoga for anxiety, depression, trauma, and pain.

To Abby, yoga is a way of life, bridging the span between our studentship on and off the mat. She is a natural teacher, bringing humility, curiosity, and sacred presence to every session. Her classes are described as being delightful, insightful, and inspirational. Her compassion and devotion allow the teachings of yoga to be accessible to every level of practitioner. She teaches weekly classes at the Ashland Yoga Center, including a chair yoga class called “Adaptive Yoga: Yoga for Every Body”.

In a private yoga therapy session, Abby helps clients to develop an accessible practice that is safe and empowering. Each session is unique, depending upon the needs of the individual. A typical appointment includes breathing practices, strengthening/stretching exercises, and mindfulness meditation.
